From Judy on Odyssey

“We have four anchors on our boat – a Bruce, a Delta Quick-set, a Fortress and a “JUDY!” Any time I want to stop my husband, Mike, from going somewhere or doing something, I drop the JUDY anchor. It actually works extremely well. It digs in quickly, sets immediately and it never drags. I understand there are similar anchors on every boat, just called by another name. It’s okay to be an anchor.”

Heroism Award goes to Libba on “Traveler” – Libba is one of the founding members of WASNT. While learning how to dock their boat in Charleston, she had the responsibility of jumping off the boat to secure the lines. In doing so, she tore her Achilles tendon and had to endure surgery with weeks of recovery. Being the positive WASNT member that she is, she opted to learn the helm position for docking. This put her husband, George, on the bow to do the jumping. Way to go, Libba. Sometimes, out of tragedy, there is triumph!

Gail on “Sur l’eau” cautions that you better make sure you understand what your husband’s words mean. “When we decided to get married, Allen told me that he had always wanted to ‘live on the water.’ I said ‘Great! I love the water.’ All the while I was envisioning a nice house on a lake. He, of course, was talking about living on a sailboat. When I realized this, I said, ‘That’s not ON the water, that’s IN the water!’” Thus, the name of the boat.
